It all started on November 9th, 2016, the day after the Presidential Election. After the shock of what went down, New Yorker’s created a Post-It note wall in the Union Square subway station amongst others that popped up in other stations.
I call those images “Wailing Wall in Union Square”… so proud to live in New York City. I have never seen Post-It notes put to such good use!
United We Stood... Some have said it’s a waste of time to put post-it notes on a subway wall, what good does it do? But to me it’s the same as placing a rose on a grave. That will not bring back the deceased but it gives the still living just a little bit of comfort to show respect for what is no longer to be. That’s why I placed a note.
And then there was the inauguration day speech. After I heard “American Carnage” that was it. I knew I had a quest to show the uprising in this country to fight bigotry, inequality on all levels and man-made climate change. Little did we know how much this movement of resistance would take place across the globe.
That was the inception of my book “American Carnage” that documented my personal journey through my photography, thoughts and feelings of what was happening to the country I live in. These are some of the images from that odyssey.
At the women’s march that took place on January 21st, 2017, I tried to show the diversity of all who chose to stand up for what is right and just. It’s a mission that will not end until we can right this wrong.
